Wanderers into Surrey Senior Cup Semi-Final
Posted: March 1st 2017
Wanderers eased into the Surrey senior cup semi-final with a 3-0 victory at Combined Counties league side Chertsey Town on Tuesday night.
Ben Dyett was not named in the squad following his head collision on Saturday at home to Ramsgate, alongside Gareth Chandler and Dean Hamlin who are both cup tied for the competition. With James McShane and Jerome Beckles taking their place on the substitutes bench (alongside the returning Tom Somerfield and Will Hearn) the starting 11 had an unfamiliar feel about it, however Wanderers excellently assembled strong squad showed no signs of fracture as for long periods the away side kept Chertsey on the back foot.
Tom Tolfrey scored a brace and the goal of the game was reserved until the 85th minute, when Man of the Match Jake Beecroft smashed home spectacularly from 30 yards.
The win sets up a home Semi-Final verses local rivals Merstham FC.
Wanderers are next in league action this Saturday when they visit Corinthian Casuals in the Ryman Division One South (3pm kick-off).
