Huk and Beard Injury Blow

Posted: 23rd August 2017

Dorking Wanderers have been hit by a double injury blow ahead of the busy Bank Holiday weekend.

Goalkeeper Slavomir Huk and midfielder Sam Beard are both facing a lengthy lay-off following injuries sustained in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Merstham last night.

Huk, the penalty shoot-out hero in April’s Play Off Final clinching promotion to the Bostik Premier, has fractured his hand and has wrist damage that will keep him out for up to eight weeks weeks.

Up and coming 19 year old Beard, who has started the last two league games, is likely to be missing for around a month after being confirmed with a hairline leg break.

Reflecting on the loss of his first team regulars, manager Marc White says, “It’s a blow this early in the campaign. Slav was voted Player of the Year by supporters last season, and has carried that form into our first three games of this year.  Sam has been performing well on the left and has been looking to really push on and establish himself as a regular this season, so the injury now is as disappointing for him as it is for the whole team.”

Marc says he will be looking to bring in goalkeeping cover at the earliest opportunity. Dorking Wanderers host Staines Town at Westhumble in the Bostik League Premier Division this coming Saturday, before travelling to Margate on Bank Holiday Monday.
