Wanderers progress to last 8 of the Surrey Senior Cup

Wanderers progressed to the quarter finals of the Surrey Senior Cup in dramatic fashion, when after a competitive game a see-saw penalty shootout was won by the Wanderers after SCR keeper Craig Bradshaw missed the vital kick after Slav Huk in the Wanderers goal saved twice and himself scored the decisive penalty.
Wanderers, who made 5 changes from Saturday’s hard fought draw at Greenwich Borough, started the game brightly before a head injury to Chris Boulter (which subsequently saw him substituted) left them to play with 10 men for 10 minutes, and SCR took advantage of this by opening the scoring from a corner.
Dean Gunner levelled the scores before the break with a well-struck free kick, but despite a competitive game chances were limited for both sides, and it finished 1-1 after 90 minutes. A penalty shootout followed, which Wanderers edged 8-7 when keeper Slav Huk proved to be the match winner.
Wanderers: Slavomir Huk, Dean Gunner, Chris Boulter (Giuseppe Sole 45’), Ben Dyett, Jerome Beckles, Anthony Oakes, Dan Mahoney (William Hearn 72’), Tom Summerfield, Sam Beard, Tom Tolfrey, James McShane
Subs: Giuseppe Sole, Alex Wells, Matt Briggs, Will Hearn
Wanderers goal scorer: Dean Gunner (38’)
