Dorking Wanderers Launches New Ladies Team

Posted: 13th June 2017

Following the rapid rise of the men’s senior side, which has culminated in 10 promotions in 18 years, Dorking Wanderers have today announced that they are expanding the club further with the introduction of a ladies team.

Dorking Wanderers FC Ladies will play in the South East Counties Women’s League Division One next season, competing against well-established sides including Worthing and Lewes.

Like their male counterparts the ladies team will play home games at the brand new Meadowbank Stadium in the heart of Dorking, and newly appointed Manager Ben Eltham is certainly looking forward to the challenge. He said: “I’m delighted to have been given this fantastic opportunity, and to be part of a growing football club. The achievements of the men’s team over the last 18 years are there for all to see, and this is a chance to replicate that with a successful women’s team”.

Eltham continued: “The prospect of playing at Meadowbank with state of the art facilities is mouth-watering, and it’s a wonderful opportunity for players and supporters to work together and achieve great things”.

Dorking Wanderers FC Ladies are holding open trials at St Johns School in Dorking on the dates below, and any interested players (aged 16 or over) are welcome to attend:

  • Saturday 24th June, 10am – 11.30am
  • Sunday 2nd July, 1.30pm – 3pm
