Posted: 28th July 2017
Dorking Wanderers have today announced another high profile signing following the arrival of David Ray from Southern League Premier Division Side Basingstoke Town.
Experienced and highly regarded in non-league football, Ray has been brought in to add further strength to the Wanderers defence as they embark on their maiden season in the Bostik Premier Division.
Ray brings with him a wealth of experience, with a career to-date that has seen him notch up almost 400 games in two spells at Basingstoke Town, with stints at Carshalton and Farnborough Town in-between.
Manager Marc White is delighted to have secured a player of Ray’s pedigree. He said: “It’s no secret that I’ve been an admirer of David’s for several years now. He’s highly regarded in non-league football both in terms of ability and leadership, and was a stalwart in the Basingstoke defence for several years. It’s a sign of our progression that we have been able to convince David to join us, and I have no doubt that he will be a key player in our maiden season in the Bostik Premier League”.
David Ray was also in a buoyant mood after signing for the Wanderers, and commented: “I’m delighted to be joining such a progressive club both on and off the field. I’ve heard great things about the club, and I’m excited to get started”.
